OWL Celebrates Firefighter Justin McPherson on Graduating Volunteer Recruit Class 26139

OWL VFD is proud to recognize Firefighter Justin McPherson on successfully graduating from the Prince William County Fire & Rescue System’s Volunteer Recruit Class 26139.

Justin joined OWL in late 2025 with a clear purpose: to serve the community that helped shape him.

“I wanted to join OWL because I want to give back to the community that I grew up in,” Justin shared. “I was inspired to become a firefighter because I have always loved helping others and working on a team.”

That commitment to service quickly became evident throughout recruit school. During the academy, Justin was selected to serve as Battalion Leader for Battalion 2, a role that required leadership, organization, and effective communication between the recruit class and training cadre.

Reflecting on the experience, Justin said:

“Being a battalion leader was a great experience. It gave me the chance to use my communication and coordination skills as I served as an intermediary between our class and the cadre. I enjoyed the leadership role.”

His willingness to lead while learning exemplifies the qualities that make strong firefighters and dedicated volunteers.

Justin isn’t stopping there. Looking ahead, he plans to continue his fire and rescue education by enrolling in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training later this year, further expanding his ability to serve the residents of Prince William County.

Congratulations, Firefighter McPherson, on this outstanding accomplishment. Your dedication to serving your hometown, your leadership throughout recruit school, and your commitment to continuing your training reflect the very best of the OWL tradition.

We look forward to seeing all that you’ll accomplish in the years ahead. Welcome to the fire service, Justin!
