OWL Members Complete EMT-Basic Class

OWL VFD  is proud to celebrate a major milestone for several of our dedicated members.

Congratulations to Nick Fain, Colby Follensbee, and Madalyn Waltsak on successfully completing the EMT-Basic class at the Prince William County Public Safety Training Center.

Over the past several months, these volunteers demonstrated tremendous dedication and perseverance while balancing the demands of training, work, school, and personal commitments. Their journey included attending classes two evenings each week and spending Saturdays mastering the critical skills needed to serve as Emergency Medical Technicians.

The EMT-Basic course provides the foundation for delivering emergency medical care in the field and prepares students to handle a wide range of medical emergencies with professionalism, compassion, and confidence. Completion of this course now qualifies these members to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) written exam — the final step toward earning their Virginia State EMT-Basic certification.

Joining the celebration of this accomplishment were OWL Rescue Chief Sandra Williams, Rescue Captain Mike Yankaskas, and Prince William County Fire & Rescue System Operational Medical Director Dr. Aman Shah, who recognized the hard work and commitment these members demonstrated throughout the program.

At OWL, the dedication of our volunteers continues to strengthen our ability to serve the community with highly trained emergency responders. Achievements like this reflect the countless hours our members invest to prepare themselves to answer the call when our residents need help most.

Congratulations Nick, Colby, and Madalyn on this outstanding accomplishment!
