OWL Member Austin Williams Earns BLS-Endorsed Provider Status

OWL VFD  is proud to recognize EMT Austin Williams for successfully completing the Prince William County Fire & Rescue System Operational Medical Director’s (OMD) requirements, officially qualifying him to serve as a BLS-Endorsed Provider.

This accomplishment marks another major milestone in Austin’s continued journey in fire and rescue service and reflects his strong commitment to both professional growth and serving the community.

EMT Williams joined OWL’s Junior Program in 2023 and quickly demonstrated a strong desire to learn and grow within the department. Reflecting on his path into EMS, Austin shared:

“My schedule didn’t allow me to commit every weekend to fire school, but I found I was able to take the EMT course through NVCC’s night classes during the week, which gave me the opportunity to keep learning and growing while still being able to keep my school commitments.”

After completing his EMT coursework, Austin earned both his Virginia State EMT-Basic certification and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification. Upon turning 18, he transitioned to Active Senior Member status in June 2025 and has continued expanding his training and operational responsibilities ever since.

Earlier this year, EMT Williams completed training to serve as a Snow Plow Driver, helping support station and operational readiness during winter weather events. Most recently, he also completed training to qualify as an Ambulance Driver, allowing him to further contribute to emergency response operations within the department.

Austin’s commitment to service is deeply rooted in family tradition. He proudly represents the third generation of Fire & Rescue volunteers in the Williams family. His grandfather, Dave Williams, served as both Assistant Chief and President. His father, Ryan Williams, is a Life Member and current Assistant Chief, while his mother, Sandra Williams, currently serves as OWL’s Rescue Chief.

Next month, Austin will begin an exciting new chapter as he enters fire school as a recruit with the Arlington County Fire Department. While he will be stepping away temporarily from volunteer service during recruit school, he plans to return to OWL and continue pursuing additional training to become a Lead EMT.

Austin’s work ethic, perseverance, and dedication to serving others embody the values of OWL and the fire and rescue service as a whole. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished so far and look forward to seeing everything he achieves in the future.

Please join us in congratulating EMT Austin Williams on this outstanding accomplishment and wishing him success as he begins fire school next month!
