Celebrating EMS Week: Honoring Our Lifesaving Volunteers
This EMS Week, OWL Volunteer Fire Department proudly joins the nation in celebrating the dedication, compassion, and lifesaving efforts of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals. From routine calls to life-threatening emergencies, our EMS volunteers stand ready 24/7 to serve the residents of Occoquan, Woodbridge, and Lorton with courage, skill, and heart.
At OWL VFD, our EMS providers come from all walks of life—students, parents, professionals—all united by a shared commitment to making a difference in their community. Whether responding to medical emergencies, providing critical care during transport, or educating the public on safety and preparedness, our members are at the frontlines of health and public safety.
Behind Every Call is a Commitment to Excellence
Our volunteers undergo rigorous training, including earning certifications like Virginia State EMT and National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), to ensure the highest level of care is delivered in every response. It’s a commitment that goes beyond duty—it’s a calling.
We are especially proud of our newest EMTs who have recently completed their training and are now serving the community with their newly earned blue helmets. These members represent the next generation of emergency care providers, and their dedication inspires us all.
A Grateful Community
EMS Week is not only a time to recognize the hard work of our members—it’s also a moment to say thank you. Thank you to our EMTs, paramedics, and all those who support our EMS operations. Your service saves lives and strengthens our community every day.
Join us this week in honoring these everyday heroes. Whether it’s a handshake, a kind word, or simply learning CPR to help support the chain of survival, every gesture counts.
