OWL Receives Commendation

On Tuesday, September 26th, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors recognized Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department with a commendation for 85 years of service to the community.

Department President Dave Williams and Executive Vice President were on hand during the event.

The motion reads:

WHEREAS, the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department is
celebrating 85 years of dedicated service to Prince William County; and

WHEREAS, the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department provides
fire and medical services 365 days a year; and

WHEREAS, the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department designed
the Firestorm line of firefighting boats that are used worldwide; and

WHEREAS, in 2023, the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department
was the recipient of an award for their volunteer’s service in responding to the January 3, 2022, snowstorm that gridlocked I-95 over twenty-four hours; and

WHEREAS, the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department has
saved countless lives of the citizens and visitors of Occoquan, Woodbridge, and Prince William County;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of County
Supervisors hereby extends its grateful appreciation and commends Occoquan-WoodbridgeLorton Volunteer Fire Department for 85 years of service to our community.
