Celebrating OWL VFD’s Robert Romo: High School Cadet Program Graduate and Newest Probationary Member

Congratulations to OWL Volunteer Fire Department member Robert Romo on completing the Prince William County Fire & Rescue System’s High School Fire Cadet Program.

Robert, a graduating senior from Colgan High School, joined OWL’s Junior Program in October 2024 and recently transitioned to Probationary Member status after turning 18. His commitment to helping others and making a difference in the community is what first inspired him to pursue volunteer service with OWL.

Even before joining our department, Robert was already taking steps toward a future in fire and rescue through the county’s High School Cadet Program. Reflecting on his experience, he shared:

“Being a member of OWL gave me a much better insight into how real patient assessment happens in the field and knowledge of the tools and resources on ambulances and engines. Responding to emergency calls has helped me to really see the mission of the Fire Department in action.”

Robert earned certifications in Pro Board Firefighter I & II, CPR, and HazMat Operations.

We’re incredibly proud to welcome Robert as a Probationary Member and look forward to seeing all he’ll accomplish in the fire service.
