OWL Celebrates Outstanding Volunteers & Service

At the recent annual Officers Installation Banquet of the OWL Volunteer Fire Department (OWL VFD), a heartfelt celebration took place to honor the exceptional service of our dedicated volunteers. In 2024, OWL responded to over 9,000 calls for service.  Our volunteer members put in over 57,236 hours to the community staffing units, saving immeasurable tax dollars, of which over 5,762 were above and beyond their assigned duty crew hours.  This is not to mention the thousands of hours our members have contributed on administrative tasks.

The OWL VFD’s Installation of Officers Banquet was a ceremonious occasion that not only marked the induction of newly elected officers but also served as a powerful reminder of the unwavering commitment and bravery of all OWL members who selflessly serve our community. Congressman Eugene Vindman (D-7) delivered heartfelt remarks honoring the valor of first responders, underscoring the significance of their service. In addition, Congressman Gerald Connolly formally recognized the banquet in the Congressional Record—a prestigious acknowledgment that highlights the vital role OWL plays in safeguarding our community. His tribute celebrates the dedication of the department’s new leadership while honoring the steadfast service of the volunteers who devote their time and talents to the community.
