OWL Boat Crew Provides Support for Island Concert

On the evening of July 27, OWL members staffed Boat 502 for the Annual Rock Island Party. This unique event is a concert, but attendees enjoy the show from their boats on the water.

Holiday Island sits in the mouth of Occoquan Bay, just off the coast of Prince William County. Woodbridge resident Mark Richards owns the tiny island. The 15,000-square-foot piece of land has no structures, just a U.S. flag, and a few trees.

Since 2014, Richards, local artist Norman Voss of the Stormin’ Norman Band, and local residents Terry Hill (an OWL Honorary Member) and James Sejd have teamed up to host the Annual Rock Island Party. Bands perform on the island while attendees surround it with their boats to watch and listen to the show.

OWL members volunteered to staff Boat 502 as a standby in case of emergencies involving the performers and attendees.
