OWL Crews Administer CPR and Save a Life
On the evening of February 10th, Ambulance 502B, Engine 502B along Fairfax County Fire and Rescue’s Medic 419 and Truck 441 were dispatched for a stoppage of breathing in Woodbridge. Crews arrived to find an adult patient unresponsive and pulseless on a soccer field. CPR was quickly initiated and an AED was attached. The patient was defibrillated appropriately and the patient’s pulse returned. The patient was transported to the hospital’s and sent to the Cath lab. About a week later the patient was discharged with no neurological deficits.
OWL Rescue Chief Sandra Williams said, “The save is a great example of quality training, a quick response and teamwork.” In recognition of their service, Rescue Chief Williams presented coins to the OWL crews.
