The Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department (OWLVFD) is an IRS 501C4 non-profit Corporation. The Maintenance Supervisor supervises and maintains a shop of two mechanics working on fire engines, ladder trucks, passenger vehicles, boats, generators, and other motorized vehicles and equipment. Our organization needs a reliable, organized person to manage the day to day operations of a multifaceted maintenance shop.

The successful applicant will have a positive attitude, a desire to work efficiently, and have excellent people communication skills. If you have worked in a fast-paced shop in the past and you enjoy establishing organizational systems, we’re excited to talk with you. We’re looking for someone who can operate effectively with little supervision and who can manage multiple tasks at once without becoming overwhelmed and can deal with various vendors, volunteer members, government representatives, and other volunteer fire department organizations.

Some of the Maintenance Supervisor duties include:

  • Maintain Budget for the Maintenance Division
  • Supervise Mechanics
  • Prioritize and schedule apparatus repair with mechanics and/or outside vendors
  • Schedule apparatus preventative maintenance
  • Maintain apparatus repair records and files
  • Maintain parts and supplies to limit downtime
  • Coordinate apparatus moves for maintenance and repair
  • Works with department and county procurement officers to obtain necessary contracts related to apparatus maintenance and repair
  • Establish a good working relationship with vendors for maintenance, repair, and parts
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships and serves as a liaison to other departments and county government administrative departments as necessary
  • Other administrative duties as assigned
