Fire Suppression

Firefighters are responsible for deploying hoses to hydrants, operating pumps to supply the water to hoses, climbing ladders, and using other tools to break through debris. Firefighters may also be required to enter burning buildings to extinguish a fire and rescue individuals, pets and/or property. Other responsibilities include responding to traffic accidents, hazardous situations, and medical emergencies, particularly as a majority of calls firefighters respond to are medical emergencies—not fires.

OWL VFD provides the community it serves with highly trained responders to take on a variety of fire-related emergencies.  OWL’s volunteer firefighters attend over 300 hours of training to become Virginia State Certified firefighters.  Our firefighters are exposed to the methods and tactics required to serve the needs of the citizens and guests of Prince William County.  This high level of training offers our community extraordinary service for a variety of emergencies that they may occur.  Along with our highly trained firefighters, OWL has a modern fleet of fire apparatus to ensure our community always has the necessary equipment needed for any situation that arises.
